My son, Matthew was chosen this past year to attend the Kidd's Kids trip to DisneyWorld. The entire family had a remarkable time, as this was our first trip to Disney. I always wondered how and why we were chosen. I knew exactly what Matt had endured this past year after he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma a year ago in January and knew that he was a perfect choice. What I didn't know was that this was going to be our last trip together as a family. Two months after our trip, Matthew passed away.

Thank you Kidd's Kids for one last memory. A memory that will never leave our minds and hearts. Matthew wasn't feeling the best on this trip, but he definately made the most of it for us. He rode all the rides and lasted late into the night to watch the fireworks and laser shows. One day after our trip, he was admitted into the hospital for a collapsed lung, which probably happened on the plane ride home. From then on, the cancer spread aggressively throughout his little body. In December, the doctors told us there was nothing more they could do for him other than keeping him from pain.

As we looked through our pictures for his memorial, I noticed all the wonderful pictures from the Disney trip. I know now why Matthew was chosen this past year. Someone else had a hand in selecting him for a memory we will always cherish.

Thank you again for such an amazing time!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Dominguez
Mother of Matthew

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know life is not fair. I am glad your family got to experience Disney World. It was a fun place where I am sure he made some good memories where he got to forget about his cancer for a short while. I don't know how you will get past this but I know people do. I will keep you in my thoughts and I know he will be missed!
