I would first like to start out by saying thank you to KiddsKids and for the wonderful work that you do with making it possible for these special children to be able to experience happiness that wouldn't be possible without your help. Thank You Derrick for keeping such a great blog going that is filled with so much information and very informative. I would like to share with you the story of my 9 year old son,Maurice, who is now permanently disabled from taking the Flu Shot. He can't talk anymore, he now has epilepsy, he is totally dependent on me now for his dressing, bathing, feeding, changing, etc. He has several other deficits now as well, such as: he can't blow his nose anymore, it is very hard to control his emotions now, he has sensory issues, etc. He was on Life Support 40 days and nights after the Flu Shot made his brain swell and he had to undergo a brain biopsy and have a shunt placed in his brain to drain fluid from all of the swelling. He had to undergo extensive rehab. to learn to walk again which started out as first him having to learn to push the wheels forward on the wheelchair and then the therapists having to tie belts around his waist to teach him to walk again which finally was successful. I have to give him almost 900 pills a month now for his severe epilepsy and emotional control and sleeping medication for the nighttime that if he did not get it his brain would keep him awake all night and then he will go into grand mal seizures and have to go into the hospital. It is so hard to think about how he used to sing songs and love to dance around and now see the pain he goes through on a daily basis but I know that God has a plan. Maurice is a true fighter and he now "points" to what he wants and he does understand what you say to him and he continues everyday to try and fight his condition as much as he can and he will always be my hero. Thank You for reading this.
Sincerely,
Michelle Mouille

Welcome To Kidd's Kids

I founded Kidd's Kids in 1991 with the hope of making a difference in the lives of terminally and chronically ill children. Each year, Kidd's Kids offers five amazing days of suspended reality to children whose lives have been ravaged by disease. Kidd's Kids children and their families are given the chance to experience the exuberance of being "normal." That is the gift that you and I can offer by supporting the Kidd's Kids organization.

Signed,
