Wow, what can I say except a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to the foundation! Bryce and his sister Breana had a wonderful trip today to Southwest Airlines where they were both treated like dignitaries and showered with attention! Not only did they have a great time and missed school, they both learned a lot about flying! Our day started with Barnes from SWA and Lyndsay from the foundation (Derrick had to join later). We toured the facility which was awesome. We got to see many planes (scale) and cool photos on the wall and lots of uniforms (the 70's were really cool) and all kinds of neat stuff. Then we toured the Flight Operations Center (too cool) and see how they command all 560 planes and over 3500 flights a day. We couldn't stay long there because of bad weather on the east coast and they were needed to readjust a lot of flights. Then we were treated to lunch which Bryce and Breana loved the cafe. They were able to watch the planes land and take off from the other side of the runway which was really cool. After lunch we stopped by the gift shop. Then we went to another building and were introduced to a large crew of folks that were in the instruction business and housed the simulators. We took a lot of pictures and also were treated to a lot of cool stuff. Then it was off to the biggest fun of the day. THE 737 FLIGHT SIMULATOR! Wow was that cool. Bryce drove and Breana got to sit in Chuck's lap (Holly from SWA also programmed) and fly a little bit. Then Breana got out and Bryce did more flying and even taxied the jet to the gateway which required different skills. My father (great papa) and Lyndsay and Derrick stood up the whole time and Bryce never tossed us over. It was so cool. It was really just like flying.
Again, it is so wonderful what the entire KIDD KRADDICK staff and foundation does for our kids. Plus they include siblings who are often overlooked in the sacrifices they have in having a sibling that is sick or disabled. We can't thank everyone enough and can't wait to help raise money for this years WDW trip on 10/6. We went in 2009 and the kids still talk about it and now have more memories to add.
Here is to hoping that our friends Tyler and Austin Byrom can be pilots in the future and to all the local kids can too! Thank you again for choosing us and for all the wonderful things you did for us today! The gifts will remind them forever and Bryce is wearing his pilot's hat, shirt, tie and pins tomorrow to school and he also wrote a paper to take with him!
