Tyson Mailloux - My Son

My son Tyson Mailloux was diagnosed with High Risk B-precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on June 28th, 2010. Tyson is the oldest of my children (Jordon – brother, Kaytlon – sister) and he also has an older step-brother (Dillon). He is a vibrant young man who excels at everything he attempts so beating cancer will just be another accomplishment for him. For the last 3 years he has been accepted into the Gifted and Talented program in the Fort Mill South Carolina, Saginaw Texas and most recently Keller Texas school districts. He was also 1 of 5 fifth graders going into 6th that were accepted into the band to play percussions at Chisholm Trail. He has played Soccer, Basketball, Football and his favorite Baseball! He is looking forward to playing contact sports next year in 7th grade!

While the Leukemia did side track the sports for now, his school is allowing him to participate as much as possible in the Gifted Program even though he is homebound. We have a teacher that visits us for 4 hours a week and is provided by Keller ISD. His regular teachers keep in touch with us through email and we will soon be video conferencing in with his classes. Last week some of the students made Tyson some get well cards and next week Child Life Services from Cook Children’s will visit his, Kaytlon and Jordon’s school to talk about Leukemia.
Tyson’s hobbies are vast but include watching the Texas Rangers, Orange County Choppers, and COPS. He also still loves to play with his Army Men and he cannot get enough time playing World of Warcraft on the computer.

He currently sports a b*** Mohawk!

Thanks to those who donated to Kidd's Kids

As a family attending this year’s trip to Disney, I cannot thank those of you who donated to Kidd's Kids today nearly enough. I was able to donate $250.00 and wish I was able to do more. I wish there was a way I could put into words the look and excitement on the kids faces when I told them we were accepted! I know there are people out there that think the money should go to a cure and not for an event and I have to admit that I was one of those people until my son…

My Journey with Tyson's Leukemia thus far

On June 10th, w we finalized our move into the new house. During the move, Tyson was complaining that he was tired. Of course I was yelling at him to help, and I often accused him of faking it so he wouldn’t have to help. On that Thursday, I gave him and Jordon some chores to do, and then left for the store. When I got back, all the chores were done and Tyson was sleeping on the couch. Katy proceeded to tell me that Jordon did ALL of their chores, but Jordon wasn’t going to let me know. Of…

I never did...

People ask me if I had a clue…but I never did! If looking back I could see signs that something was wrong…but I never did. I was just talking to a friend about the statistics; all those stupid, stupid, stupid statistics. They make you want to have hope but in the back of your mind you still think about the percentage that don’t make it. We have received a ton of good news so far and everyone says to stay strong, to believe in God, to fight. I get my strength through Tyson, he is the one that…

What would you say?

A lot of people have been asking how I am doing. I say I am doing great, fine, wonderful…whatever empty description I can come up with but the fact is I am not doing good at all. I am not looking for words of encouragement or sympathy but I have found that writing these notes does help me. It helps me get off my chest all of the things that I am thinking about, that I constantly worry over.

June 2008 my family and I moved to Charlotte NC. In October I came home to find that my…

Welcome To Kidd's Kids

I founded Kidd's Kids in 1991 with the hope of making a difference in the lives of terminally and chronically ill children. Each year, Kidd's Kids offers five amazing days of suspended reality to
children whose lives have been ravaged by disease. Kidd's Kids children and their families are given the chance to experience the exuberance of being "normal." That is the gift that you and I can
offer by supporting the Kidd's Kids organization. Signed,
