Hello there! my name is Norma. just wanted to let u know that I myself am a single parent with 3 kids. a daughter who is 16 w/bipolar, and identical twin boys with Autism, and traits of adhd; and a 75yr old mother with diabetes 2 and a heart patient. My life is very challenging on a daily basis due to my twins and their behaviors. One twin can be very violent and aggressive. The other can get aggressive at times depending on the other twins behavior (feeds off of him). My twins dont get out much due to their problems but its not by choice; I feel its a great liability because alot of people dont understand what its like to have a child with autism and I have 2!! Unfortunately I've experience a situation in public once that a father almost struck my son until i explained his condition! The father was very understanding but we parents w/the same issues as myself wont always be that blessed every time our child does something wrong to another individual. The twins are low functional in alot of areas but high functional in others. I know it can be "HELL" at times so if u ever feel like talking email me at eduvinahinojosa@yahoo.com or on myspace acct under norma macias. Have a great blessed day!!!
Have you ever tried to see how your child interacts with horses? I'm in school for Occupational Therapy and saw a lot of Kids with autism at a Hipotherapy (therapy involving horses) session. The interaction of others with the same disabilities and animals is very therapeutic.
Wow norma, i really envy you and it is very brave of you to look after them being a single parent and all.
i myself have a boy who is 5 years old with autism and i must say that is already a handful for me

at times, i do feel down and lose control over the situation .

It is still a stigma of autism in my society and some school centres might not be able to accept him.

Its really a comfort for me that i am not the only one going thru the situation .

Welcome To Kidd's Kids

I founded Kidd's Kids in 1991 with the hope of making a difference in the lives of terminally and chronically ill children. Each year, Kidd's Kids offers five amazing days of suspended reality to
children whose lives have been ravaged by disease. Kidd's Kids children and their families are given the chance to experience the exuberance of being "normal." That is the gift that you and I can
offer by supporting the Kidd's Kids organization. Signed,
