Day 1 – Magic Kingdom!
We start the trip in Magic Kingdom because it’s classic Disney. All the rides you’ve heard about, the characters, the parades … It defines Walt Disney World. From Splash Mountain to Space Mountain, and everything in between, there’s something for everyone. Except maybe the tea cups … those may not be for everyone!
Check out the highlight video from our first day on the parks and be sure to check back by for more recaps!
Every year, we begin the Kidd’s Kids trip with the Welcome Dinner. By the time everyone arrives at Disney World and gets checked into their rooms, it’s late afternoon. Many of our families are traveling from across the country, so the Welcome Dinner is a chance for everyone to get settled in, meet some new friends and just have a relaxing dinner before we hit the parks in the morning. And by relaxing, we mean playing, singing, dancing … you know, the way kids who are at Disney World for the first time relax!
This year’s trip happened to coincide with Mickey Mouse’s birthday, so when Mickey and Minnie made an appearance (a complete surprise to the kids!), everyone sang Happy Birthday and then ended with an explosion of confetti from the sky (or ceiling!).
The Welcome Dinner is always a great way to kick off the trip. The families spend time with Caroline Kraddick and the Kidd Kraddick Morning show, the kids start to make friends and of course, planning out their park strategies! But the highlight of this year’s Welcome Dinner was a visit from Best Buy. Best Buy joined Kidd’s Kids as a sponsor this year, and generously gave every Kidd’s Kid a brand new iPad Pro! There are so many memories being made in the parks and the iPads give our families the ability to capture them! And just in case anyone was having trouble figuring out how to use their fancy iPad, Best Buy brought the Geek Squad to share their best tips!
The Welcome Dinner is just the start of the Kidd’s Kids Trip. Make sure to check back for more recaps. Next up, Magic Kingdom!!
When we send our Kidd’s Kids kids off to Walt Disney World, it’s not just a sendoff … it’s a party! We have breakfast, party favors and a step and repeat. And because we do this trip first class, we also have a rockin’ DJ and a Red Carpet! If you’re going on the trip of a lifetime, you have to go in style!
The Kidd’s Kids Southwest plane was already there, so the kids got to meet the pilot and see the plane up close. The families had a chance to meet one another, share stories and take pictures and before long, the kids were on their way to becoming fast friends!
Once everyone arrived, it was time to board the plane. But in order to get on the plane, you have to walk the Red Carpet! Each family was introduced by Caroline Kraddick and the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show and there was “paparazzi”, people waving pom-pons, cheering and dancing. SO much dancing! As they boarded the plane, the Southwest staff gave each kid a backpack and Mickey Mouse ears so they’d be ready to go upon arrival!
Once we got all the families boarded and settled, it was time for takeoff! In a few short hours, we’d be at Walt Disney World!
Make sure to keep checking our blog for more recaps from the 2017 Kidd’s Kids Trip! Next up, the Welcome Dinner!
